About the wine
Banker Carl Gunderloch founded the winery in 1890, which is now run by the sixth generation of the Hasselbach family. When caring for the 24-hectare vineyards, great emphasis is placed on the health and preservation of the vineyards and soils in order to keep the quality high for future generations. The wines impress with their concentration, longevity and mineral character.
Tasting note
Spicy scent, flint, herbs, subtle smoky notes. Concentrated and tight on the palate, with ripe acidity, great fruit and a nice balance.
Culinary recommendation
Flaschenpöstler-Tipp: Riesling Nackenheimer Rothenberg Grosses Gewächs passt bestens zu Pilzen, indischer Küche und asiatischem Essen.
Vinification
After several harvesting cycles, the selected grapes are macerated for three to five days and then gently pressed. Fermentation is then carried out in 600 liter and 1200 liter wooden barrels and partly in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged on whole yeast until bottling in August. During this time, yeast stir (bâtonnage) is occasionally used.
