About the wine
Banker Carl Gunderloch founded the winery in 1890, which is now run by the Hasselbach family in the sixth generation. When caring for the 24-hectare vineyard area, great emphasis is placed on the health and preservation of the vineyards and soils in order to keep the quality high for future generations. The wines impress with their concentration, longevity and mineral character.
James Suckling: 93/100
Tasting note
Bright lemon yellow, ripe fruit aromas and herbs on the nose. Complex on the palate with great acid structure, power, volume and a long finish.
Culinary recommendation
Flaschenpost team recommends this Riesling Nackenheim Trocken with mushrooms, duck and prawns.
Vinification
After harvesting, the selected grapes are subjected to a cool maceration period of 12 hours to three days and then gently pressed. Fermentation then takes place spontaneously in old wooden barrels and sometimes in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Until it is bottled in May, the wine is stored on the lees and thus gains in fullness and complexity.
