About the wine
If we can offer something special for Christmas 2021, it's this snappy white wine 2020 — Riesling Auf der Höll Erste Lage trocken. Picturesque landscapes of the Rhine Valley give us these grapes, from which the winemaker from the German Weingut Johannishof conjures up this white wine with refinement and sensitivity. Culinary tip from Flaschenpöstler: This Riesling is ideal to serve with Asian food or mushrooms.
Tasting note
Fresh nose with aromas of grapefruit and lemon, plus white peach and slightly exotic notes. Dry on the palate, despite a subtle residual sweetness of 5.5 g/l, and with juicy acidity. The finish of the Riesling is medium-long and shows aromas of lemon, walnut and minerality reminiscent of wet stone.
Culinary recommendation
Flaschenpöstler-Tipp: Riesling Auf der Höll Erste Lage trocken passt hervorragend zu asiatischem Essen, Pilzen und Crevetten.
Vinification
After handpicking, the grapes quickly reach the winery. Here they are sorted and carefully pressed. The aging takes place in large oak barrels (1,200 liters). Since no animal products are used in the cellar, all wines in the winery are vegan.
