Tasting note
This wine has lovely aromas of lemon, orange blossom and pear with a hint of yellow apple and stone fruit on the nose. The palate is complex with fresh and lively acidity. This wine has incredible depth and is complex with a long-lasting finish.
Culinary recommendation
It goes well with seafood and crustaceans or as an aperitif.
Vinification
The oldest vineyards on the Reyneke farm are two blocks of Chenin Blanc dating from 1974 and 1976, respectively. These vineyards are registered in South Africa's Old Vine Project (OVP). The grapes were pressed as whole bundles and settled slightly. The natural fermentation took place in a combination of French barrique (2nd filling) and 2500L foudrés. After ageing on lees for 10 months, the wine was peeled off and bottled at the beginning of January. Only a small amount of sulfur was added before bottling.
