About the wine
Thanks to the friendship of Federico Giuntini and the owner of Villa di Petrognano, Cecilia Galeotti Ottieri, Selvapiana was able to lease 6 hectares of vineyards. Pomino is a historic wine region, beautifully situated on the slopes of the Appennines, on the border between Tuscany and Emilia-Romagna. As early as 1716, the Grand Duke of Tuscany, Cosimo III DeMedici, passed a law to protect the most important wine regions. Pomino was one of the first four, along with the Chianti Classico, Carmignano and Valdarno Superiore.
Tasting note
Deep, brilliant color. Concise stone fruit arromatics on the nose. On the palate, with richness and freshness and a long finish.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with various starters, vegetarian dishes and mild cheeses.
Vinification
Temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The Sangiovese is aged in large wooden barrels (20 hl). Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon mature for 12 months in barriques.
