Tasting note
Light and bright in color. An intense floral and aromatic nose with aromas of blackcurrant leaves, green figs, grapefruit and sweet melon. The palate is complex and structured. Rich aromas balanced with fresh saltiness and robust acidity. Elegant and fresh, the wine ends with a long, concentrated finish.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with seafood and shellfish
Vinification
Perdeblokke refers to the horses that worked the soils of the steep vineyard at an altitude of 200-220 m on the slopes of Constantiaberg, after which it was named. Since their planting, Perdeblokke have produced “grapes of the highest quality, which have given us a unique Sauvignon Blanc, which prompted the decision to produce the first vintage of this wine from a single vineyard” in 2005. It is only produced in years of exceptional quality. The grapes are harvested from each block in several batches, fermented and vinified separately, so that each block can express its unique style and true terroir. The wine went through natural fermentation in the tank, followed by oak barrels. It was left on the yeast for 9 months before it was cut and bottled.
