About the wine
The family had been growing wine for several generations, but it was only under Johann Schmelz from 1979 that their own wine was vinified. From the outset, he focused on high quality and natural farming without artificial fertilisers, the grapes should be healthy but not overripe, botrytis is not found here. Today, the 14-hectare farm is one of the best addresses in the Wachau region and is also highly regarded by international critics.
Tasting note
Monarch with sovereign discretion and power. Present but not obtrusive, great aromatic richness, bright and yellow ripe fruits, stone fruit, bright flowers, looks very confident and established, mineral, peppery foundation. Generous, dense and confident on the palate, yellow fruit, then reigns powerfully, powerful, deeply mineral and ethereal, mint leaves a lasting impression. Culinary recommendation

Vinification
Selective reading by hand. Gentle pressing, temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks, storage on fine yeast.
