About the wine
With the dominant white wine 2017 — Finca Valdelagunde Verdejo DO, nuances and accents are redefined. Beautiful and magnificent landscapes of the Duero Valley (Castilla y Leon) give us these grapes, from which the winemaker from the Spanish winery Pedro Escudero conjures up this white wine with refinement and experience. Culinary tip from Flaschenpost team: This verdejo can be served very well with vegetable rice or fish dishes.
Tasting note
This intense golden yellow white wine delights with its richness of aromas of ripe peaches, apricots, passion fruit, pink grapefruit and spicy notes of vanilla and some freshly mown grass. On the palate, it is extremely fruity and spicy with an almost oily texture, a refreshing acid structure and a touch of sweetness on the finish. A wonderfully meaty yet refreshing Verdejo.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with aperitif, Spanish tapas, chicken wings, fish, seafood, vegetarian dishes, terrines, asparagus, spicy appetizers, and aromatic cheeses.
Vinification
The grapes for Valdelagunde come from the plots of Escudero closest to the Duero River. The vines have an average age of 40-50 years and produce highly concentrated grapes. After harvesting, cold maceration and fermentation take place at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is interrupted shortly before the end, leaving a few grams of residual sugar in the wine. The aging takes place on whole yeast, partly in steel tanks, partly in barriques.
