De Trafford Elevation 393 2016 - De Trafford

About the wine

With the special De Trafford Elevation 393 from 2011, you will positively surprise your guests. Fertile and magnificent landscapes of the coastal region give us these grapes, from which the winemaker from the South African winery De Trafford conjures up this red wine with refinement and sensitivity.

Tasting note
Attractive medium-deep red color Nice spicy notes, cloves, nutmeg and cinnamon, initially with black currants and other dark berries. Fine, well-structured palate. Layers of dark berries and cherries under the spices, which persist in a long dry finish.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with braised and smoked beef.
Vinification
A single vineyard wine from the beautiful Mont Fleur farm, which is located at the top of a beautiful valley above Stellenbosch, 393 meters high between the mountains of Stellenbosch and Helderberg. The property is owned by the Trafford family and is run by a small team of dedicated employees. An elevation of the family house, which forms the center of the vineyard, appears on the label - drawn by former architect David Trafford. The grapes were picked by hand, picked, destemmed and gently crushed. Fermentation took place spontaneously in open fermenters at a maximum of 30°C for 12 to 15 days with regular pumping over. The free-flowing juice and the juice from the first pressing were used and the assemblage took place after 9 months. In total, Elevation 393 matured in French oak barrels for 20 months.
