About the wine
Do you already know the powerful Rabigato Coche Branco born in 2014? If not, it's time! With sensitivity and intuition, the winemaker from the Portuguese winery Dirk Niepoort masters this white wine in the graceful and blooming landscape of the Douro Valley. Tasting note
On the nose, a complex bouquet where the primary fruit harmonizes perfectly with the notes of aging in the barrel. Aromas of apricot, lemon and herbal nuances blend with honey, brioche, hazelnuts and dried fruits. Elegant and fresh on the palate thanks to the moderate alcohol content. But again with an enormous aromatic complexity and a tight acid structure, which gives the wine a lot of race. The finish is powerful and long and foreshadows fantastic development potential.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with fish, cheese, risotto, vegetables and mushrooms.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand and are carefully selected right from the vineyard. After arrival at the cellar, a further selection is made so that only the very best grapes go into the coche. The grapes are gently pressed and the must is left for 48 hours to achieve natural clarification through settling. Fermentation takes place in French oak barrels (228 and 550 liters), half of which are new. In these barrels, the wine is aged for 12 months. The malolactic transformation takes place in part of the wine.
