About the wine
Vinum writes small but nice about Mandois. The Mandois family has owned vineyards in Epernay since 1735 http://www.zunftwissen.org/de/index.php/Epernay. Since then, the winemaking profession has been passed down from father to son. From selling the harvested grapes to other champagne producers, Victor Mandois changed the business philosophy in 1905 by deciding to produce his own champagne. He established himself in the neighboring village of Pierry, purchased a wine press and built a wine cellar. Today, Mandois is one of the few champagne houses that is still family-owned. For Claude Mandois, who is now in the 9th generation responsible for the family business, the production of the highest quality champagne is paramount. His philosophy is favored by 35 hectares of own vineyards in the best locations in Champagne and by the large cellar from the 18th century, which is dug deep into the Champagne soil and which gives the wine its unmistakable freshness and longevity. Mandois champagne has been served in the best houses in Switzerland for decades. Since 2008, Siebe Dupf Winery has been pleased to represent this top champagne house exclusively in Switzerland. Award In March 2009, Blanc de Blancs 2004 was awarded the Best Chardonnay in the World 2009 award by Mandois. He received this prestigious award from a jury of 300 international experts at Chardonnay du Monde in Burgundy. A selection of over 900 Chardonnays from 37 different countries was rated.
