About the wine
This distinctive Blaufränkisch 2007 — Blaufrankisch Setz crowns every festive meal with elegance and finesse. Picturesque landscapes of Burgenland give us these grapes, from which the winemaker from the Austrian winery Anton Kollwentz conjures up this red wine with refinement and experience. The Flaschenpöstler guarantee a culinary experience when you offer this Blaufränkisch with veal fillet or steak.
Tasting note
Intense on the nose with strong spicy notes, ripe cherries, some mint with delicate liquorice tones. Very complex and rich in extracts on the palate, rich in substance yet multi-layered. Ripe, well-integrated tannins, fine fruit sweetness with a long, spicy finish. Younger vintages should be opened or decanted a few hours before consumption.
Culinary recommendation
It goes well with beef, grill and lamb.
Vinification
The grapes come from the Setz vineyard, which is located on the southeastern slope of the Leitha Mountains. The sandy clay soils have a high lime content and slate. Fully ripe, healthy grapes are selectively picked by hand. Ageing for 30 months in small French oak barrels. Filling without filtration and fining.
