About the wine
Sunny and picturesque landscapes of the Rhine Valley give us these grapes, from which the winemaker from the German Weingut Bischel conjures up this white wine with refinement and experience. With the strong white wine 2020 — Appenheimer Chardonnay vom Kalkstein, you can offer your guests something very special. Flaschenpost team tip: Combine this Chardonnay with truffles or goat cheese.
Tasting note
This Chardonnay is bright golden yellow with green reflections. On the nose, aromas of ripe apples, peach, white flowers, some hazelnut and a slight touch of wood inspire. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied with lots of yellow fruit, salty-mineral notes, a vifen acidity and a wonderful balance of length and elegance on the finish.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with fish and seafood, poultry, terrines, vegetarian dishes and cheese.
Vinification
The Chardonnay grapes for this special bottling come from the best plots in Appenheim and were all picked by hand. The vines are rooted there on very mineral clay soils interspersed with limestones. After manual harvesting, whole grape pressing was carried out to reduce the introduction of bitter substances. The unclarified juice was then fermented in used French 500-liter oak barrels with the natural yeasts and aged on the lees for approx. 11 months. This wine was bottled exclusively for the Siebe Dupf winery, exclusively in magnum bottles.
