About the wine
The “wine farmer in Rust”, as Heidi Schröck describes herself with charm and modest simplicity, is one of Austria's wine celebrities, including a title as “Winemaker of the Year” from the wine magazine “Falstaff”. The Burgenland vineyards on Lake Neusiedl are blessed with a mild climate, so a variety of specialities thrive here. The over 30-year-old Austrian tomato variety Zweigelt give this wine warm, spicy cherry aromas.
Tasting note
The “wine farmer in Rust”, as Heidi Schröck describes herself with charm and modest simplicity, is one of Austria's wine celebrities, including a title as “Winemaker of the Year” from the wine magazine “Falstaff”. The Burgenland vineyards on Lake Neusiedl are blessed with a mild climate, so a variety of specialities thrive here. Zweigelt is the most common red wine variety in Austria and also has very good conditions in Rust and the surrounding area. Classically aged and bottled the year after harvest, it develops its fruit and variety of aromas after just a few months. Even as a “young savage”, he is a lot of drinking fun and goes wonderfully with game from local forests.
Culinary recommendation
