Vèrtebra DO 2022 - Terroir sense Fronteres

About the wine

In 2004, Dominik Huber and Eben Sadie started their Terroir al Limit project in Priorat with the help of the Pérez family. Nothing else should be bottled but terroir, excellent locations, old vines, biodynamic farming, spontaneous fermentation, concrete and fuder instead of barrique. After just a few years, Dominik Huber's wines are now solely responsible - among the absolute best in Priorat and far beyond. Terroir Sense Fronteres is his new project in Montsant, again with meticulous work in the vineyard and as close to nature as possible. Even the first year, 2017, is causing a lot of furore! Distinctive, large, elegant wines. How lucky to be there right from the start!

Robert Parker: 94/100
Tasting note
Clean spirit - at first reserved, almost shy, charming, tart notes, wild, Mediterranean herbs, then increasingly safer, breathes, continues, beautiful, now sweeter the delicate, transparent, bright red fruit, strawberry, cherry, and yet with discretion, Burgundian transparency and breadth. On the palate of delicate fullness, again that soft, transparent expanse, that clear, bright, red fruit, and the gentle, tart, ethereal minerality, Mediterranean herbs, always seems to fly, so light, with lots of elegance, incomparably soft breadth and length. What a Burgundian dream from Montsant, floating restrained power. Big.
Culinary recommendation
Flaschenpöstler-Tipp: Vèrtebra DO passt perfekt zu Burger mit Blauschimmelkäse, würzigen Gerichten und Gemüse.
Vinification
Very selective, early harvest by hand. Whole grape fermentation with the vineyard's own yeasts and aging concrete tanks for 6 months.
