About the wine
You will definitely have a lot of fun with the fine Rita Vin de France, which was produced in 2018. The winemaker from the French winery Mylène Bru has absolutely mastered his craft. Elegance and finesse are the characteristics of this red wine, which originates in the sunny Languedoc-Roussillon landscape.
Tasting note
The vines of this varietal Carignan were planted in the fifties or earlier. Mylène Bru, who only bought the first vines for this wine in 2008, doesn't know that for sure. Until not so long ago, viticulture in the garrigues north of Sète was carried out on the side, was never profitable and no investment was made. Fortunately, because that's why there are still ancient vines that have never been renewed due to lack of money. The sites where Mylène Bru harvests this magnificent Carignan are oriented to the north on a slight slope, so that the vines are less exposed to the very intense summer heat. Although “Rita” is a 100% Carignan, it must not bear the name of the grape variety or that of its origin, as it was grown outside an AOC. Only one fantasy name is allowed: “Rita”, the name of the saint of Sète and of one of Mylène Bru's grandmothers. The wine is rich and almost opulent despite its alcohol content of only 13%. It combines the wild scents of the garrigue with ripe notes of plum compote, medicinal herbs and thyme. The palate is surprisingly fresh, lively and soft with ripe tannins.
