Riserva di Fizzano Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2019 - Rocca delle Macìe

About the wine

There is now a new “Gran Selezione” above the Riserva category. “Gran Selezione” is what the top wines from the Chianti Classico DOCG appellation will be called in the future. The hianti Classico Collection presented the new classification system, which will see the Gran Selezione at the top of the quality pyramid. Wines in this category may only be produced from our own grape material, must be stored in wood for 30 months and then be bottled for another 3 months before they can be sold. The Gran Selezione should not reduce the potential and characteristics of Chianti Classico Riservas, but focus more on high-quality wines that are already sold under the name Chianti Classico, Sergio Zingarelli, President of the Consorzio Vino Chinati Classico, is quoted by Decanter.com as saying.
