Tasting note
Convincing aromas of red and black berries, fynbos, earth, coriander and pepper. Light body but intense in taste, with a nice acid structure and powdery tannins. Compact, but also full of energy and vitality.
Culinary recommendation
Fantastic wine with Mediterranean lamb stews with beans or a creamy Camargue rice with rabbit and snails.
Vinification
This first version of Syrah from one of the slate vineyards used for Ava was harvested early, fermented naturally with 50% whole grapes and aged only in concrete to obtain the primary fruit and crisp tannins of Syrah. This wine is characterized by its freshness and yet is complex and structured, even with a modest alcohol content of just 12.5%.
