About the wine
In 1989 Antonio Sanz fulfilled his dream of owning his own winery in Navarra. His sons work with him today. The Viña Zorzal project was founded in 2007 with a focus on autochthonous grape varieties. Zorzal owns some of the oldest vineyards in Navarra with 115 old Garnacha vines, which are still rooted.
Tasting note
Opulent aromas of black fruits such as blackberry, black currant, spicy notes of black pepper, cedarwood and earthy notes on the nose. On the palate, it is dry and fresh, with stimulating aromas of black fruit. Soft tannins and a medium body complete the profile.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with charcuterie, venison, grill, hard cheese and mushrooms.
Vinification
The Garnacha is carefully picked manually. Fermentation is initiated spontaneously by wild ambient yeasts and takes place in 3,000 liter stainless steel tanks. After malolactic fermentation, the wine matures for nine months in two-year-old oak barrels.
