Munjebel Rosso 2021 - Frank Cornelissen

About the wine

Frank Cornelissen has only dedicated itself to wine here since the beginning of 2000, and has ventured far ahead from the start, no compromises, but clear convictions and ideas. When Frank says nature, he also means nature. The ancient vines are left to their own devices, accompanied, and only in rare, very difficult years are biodynamic methods used at all. What goes into the bottle here is not just pure and untamed nature, it is a great experience, a risk and a journey, incomparably passionate, impetuous and yet of inner purity. Very big and still surprising that you can have bottles recorked after barely more than 10 years, not because the corks are no good, but because the wines will still impress in decades!

Tasting note
Rocket Man - he gets out of the glass with so much freshness, against the dark background, that goes forward, through the air, light and full of energy the red fruit, even cherry, and then glides like in a jet stream, which is also not free from thrills, mineral, herbal tension. On the palate again in the air, speed and glide, the red fruit transparent and juicy, rushes through the darkness without much jerking, past this dark, barren rock, ash, anise! Cool, a pioneer!
Culinary recommendation
Flaschenpöstler recommend this Munjebel Rosso with Sicilian pasta dishes and beef goulash.
Vinification
Selective reading and sorting by hand. Very long maceration of 60 days of destemmed and slightly crushed berries in steel tanks, unembellished, only light filtration. Minimal sulphurization between 5 and 30mg/l.
