About the wine
The property is located on the Salento Peninsula, the heel of the Italy boot. The history dates back to the 19th century. The founders were already ambitious and wanted to create a showcase model for viticulture in southern Italy at the time. This spirit can still be felt today. In 2008, the Falvo family took over the 80-hectare winery and has been passionately dedicated to the autochthonous varieties ever since. The wines have an expressive character, are steadfast, yet charming and worldly.
Tasting note
Landed gentry. Noble and warm charisma, ripe balance, sweet berries, earthy tones, herbs. Noble again on the palate, good posture, confident and measured, with a warm character, ripe fruits, herbs, fine, ripe tannins. Noble, with warmth instead of intellectual rigour. A great treat.
Culinary recommendation
Flaschenpost team recommends this MLV Primitivo del Salento IGT to accompany red meat, pizza with mushrooms and Gruyère burgers.
Vinification
Read and sort by hand. The temperature-controlled fermentation of the destemmed berries takes place in steel tanks, the malolactic fermentation and 18 months of maturation in French barriques.
