About the wine
More than 4400 cooperative members provide Provins, the largest Swiss wine producer, with the income from the vineyards between Sierre and Lake Geneva. The company focuses on quality and produces a good 20 of the 50 Valais grape varieties today. Top oenologists Madeleine Gay and Luc Sermet and their team vinify the unmistakable “Grand Métral” line and thus provide an uncomplicated drinking experience: The wines are fresh, fruity, rich and immediately accessible. They are primarily aimed at “brasserie, bar” customers and are an excellent match for modern cuisine.
Tasting note
A balanced, fruity and rather rich red wine. Black red with slight purple reflections. Subtle bouquet. stone fruit (plum, plum) and berry fruit (blackberry, cassis, strawberry). Hints of dried fruit and the slightly vegetal notes typical of Merlot. Dry on the palate. Acid/tannins are still quite present. There is also a slightly peppery spice in the back aroma. The Degu team found the structure to be rather soft, plump and harmonious. Medium-length finish.
Culinary recommendation
It goes well with veal with bright sauces.
