Little James Blanc Vin de Pays d'Oc 2022 - Château Saint Cosme (Louis & Cherry Barruol)

About the wine

The Château de Saint Cosme is the oldest winery in Gigondas. The Barruol family bought it in 1490 and Louis Barruol is now running it for the 15th generation. The estate consists of 22 hectares of vineyards, which are on average 60 years old, which is an important basis for the quality of Saint Cosme. Since 1972, Saint Cosme has cultivated organic farming, even though Father Henry was still selling his Gigondas wines in barrels to retailers back then. For him, it was not about profit, but rather about maintaining and preserving the vineyards for the next generation. To date, no herbicides, artificial fertilisers, pesticides or synthetic products have been used.

Tasting note
Light lemon yellow, intense scent of citrus, stone fruit and grapefruit. On the palate, a great combination of fruit and acid, gooseberries and exotic notes. A delicious combination of Viognier and Sauvignon Blanc, aromatic and fresh at the same time.
Culinary recommendation
Flaschenpöstler-Tipp: Goes well with goat cheese, mussels and white meat. Our recommendation: Enjoy this white wine at a slightly chilled 7°-9°C. The following period is the ideal enjoyment phase of this wine: 2016 - 2019.
Vinification
After an extremely selective manual harvest, the gentle vinification takes place in the ancient underground cellars driven into the rocks. Of course, no additives are added to the must and the finished wines are neither embellished nor filtered so that all their complexity is retained in the wine. Fermentation and wine aging in tanks.
