About the wine
Cottinelli was founded in Chur in 1868. Back then, in addition to wine, many Italian specialities were sold. A hundred years later, in 1970, they moved to Malans, where the Cottinelli wine house is still based today. Cottinelli cultivates a total of 22 hectares of vineyards from Maienfeld to Chur. The in-house production comprises five different lines. From modern to traditional, specialities and reserve wines.
Tasting note
Ruby red to brick red with a medium intensity appropriate to this elegant wine. On the nose, aromas of licorice and cranberries with a pronounced fruity note. Very fine and smooth on the tongue. A few ripe tannins subtly in the background. Fruit aromas — here too, varieties of licorice, wild strawberries and some nougat. Long, pleasant softness on the palate.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with hearty dark meat, roast veal, venison, duck and goose.
Vinification
The grapes are fermented in new 500 liter oak barrels and then stored in them for at least nine months. The “Pinot Noir Reserve” is bottled unfiltered and can form a small deposit at the bottom of the bottle during bottle storage. We therefore recommend decanting the bottle before drinking. The earliest release of a wine called reserve is 18 months from November 1 of the year of production.
