Gabaxo DOCa 2020 - Olivier Rivière Vinos

About the wine

Olivier Rivière is a name that you have to remember or not, because you will hear a lot about him in the future anyway! His wines are too good and exceptional, so admirable what he has already achieved and how freely and independently he goes his way. Through several, even very well-known stations in France and Spain, Olivier has gradually and purposefully acquired knowledge of biodynamic viticulture and natural wine and has been applying it on his own behalf since 2006. His love for Burgundy has never died out and blazes in every one of his wines (and in the aging process, which is usually done in very small quantities!). Fantastic and, on top of that, inexpensive wines! Wild and tame, unique elegance, great cinema.

Tasting note
Frenchmen in the bog. A lot of style, seems aristocratic as a matter of course, this relaxed nobility, very charming, sweet yet serious fruit, also floral and herbal notes, but particularly lots of moist, dark soil, peat and ash, also conceals a secret like any moor landscape. Wonderful juicy clear red fruit on the palate, very elegant and decidedly noble structure, Burgundian transparency and yet decisive, stimulating tannins, yet dark, cool style, seem to float above things. It's great if “Spaniards” are too sweet and dense, but don't have enough meat on their bones, you'll find happiness here! And so does everyone else!
Vinification
Selective reading by hand. Whole grape fermentation with vine-grown yeasts in cement tanks, withhold extraction, ageing for 12 months in fuders and 500 l oak barrels.
