About the wine
Selvapiana came into the possession of the Florentine Giuntini family in the 18th century, after it had long served as the summer residence of the bishops of Florence. The current owner, Francesco Giuntini, has been responsible for the wine since 1965. Since then, the Fattoria has been part of the small group of the best Chianti producers and has made a meritorious name for itself in the worldwide recognition of the Rufina and Chianti area. They successfully and at a high level combine the characteristics of Rufina with modern vinification methods. They owe this quality to the good locations, the exemplary vines, rigorous grape selection and the most careful work in the cellar. In the meantime, the estate, which also produces olive oil and grain, cultivates its land strictly according to organic guidelines. Rufina is the smallest of the seven Chianti zones. Even during the Renaissance, their wines were highly appreciated by clergy and nobility thanks to their aging capacity and robustness. They need a few years of storage to fully reveal their qualities. They are always elegant, fine drops with great depth.
