Fleurie La Joie du Palais AOC 2022 - Lafarge Vial

About the wine

Michel Lafarge, a sounding name and a big figure, Burgundy experts click their tongues, but barely available and known in Switzerland so far. A few years ago, son Frédéric Lafarge and his wife Chantal (née Vial) founded Domaine Lafarge-Vial in Beaujolais, excellent terroirs, very old vines. They remain true to themselves, biodynamic management (not yet certified), classic work in the cellar, everything here is done by hand, the steep slopes are managed with the help of horses and the wines make you sit up and take notice in the first two vintages, wonderful fresh, precise, mineral wines that express their terroir in an unadulterated way.

Tasting note
Young, rebellious artistic nature. Such beautiful, elegant, young, bright red and dark berry fruit, soft notes, sweet tart, style. Then the urge for independence, exciting resistance, which also includes so much affirmation of life and zest for action, dark, tart and spicy freshness. On the palate, slender, tart elegance, fresh, dark berry fruit, and dark spice, playful thanks to youth, this rebellious no, peppery, tart freshness and clear fruit, presented with so much lightness, freshness and clear fruit stays on the palate for a very long time. Only the second year and already of beguiling, Burgundian elegance paired with harsh features.
Culinary recommendation
Flaschenpöstler-Tipp: Fleurie La Joie du Palais AOC passt hervorragend zu Rösti, Chimichurri und Ente mit Pflaumensauce.
Vinification
Selective reading by hand. Slow fermentation, with 15% whole grapes, with the vineyard's own yeasts in cement tanks, aging and aging for one year in old, smaller oak barrels of 228 to 350l. Minimally sulfurized.
