Felix Anton Rosso IGT 2021 - Baron Longo

About the wine

Viticulture here dates back several centuries. Where the ancestors once founded visionary cooperatives in order to make winegrowing possible at all due to the small-scale ownership structure. With Anton Baron Longo on Wellenburg and Langenstein, another visionary - i.e. one who sees what is possible before others and reaches for it - has once again started growing his own wine in 2011. But the fact that he not only bottles outstanding, sometimes sensitive, sometimes sensitively expressive wines in such a short period of time and manages to convert the 20 ha to biodynamic viticulture (Demeter 2023) and sustainable corporate management is as unbelievable as it is true and encouraging. The new, bright star in South Tyrol's wine sky.

Tasting note
Hey, She, It? Yes! What a delicate masculinity, an elegant dancer with fine expression, bright aura: red to blue, fresh, clear, young, intense fruit, cherry, plum, this artistic, differentiated treatment: fine, dark minerality, understanding: The brown, benevolent notes, including cinnamon. Graceful movements on the palate, how elegantly this slender body moves, how subtle the contrasts are presented: The fruit, the freshness, the tartness, so distinctive and yet of such subtlety. It's art.
Culinary recommendation
Flaschenpöstler tip: Felix Anton Rosso IGT goes well with Gruyère burgers, red meat and ribeye steak.
Vinification
Selective reading by hand. Separate vinification of the grape varieties, fermentation with the vineyard's own yeasts in large wooden vats, aging in used barriques.
