About the wine
The strong red wine 2007 — Di Sipio Rosso 5 Riserva Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Riserva DOP is the missing piece of the puzzle in your wine rack. Sunny and blooming landscapes of Abruzzo give us these grapes, from which the winemaker from the Italian winery Azienda Nicola Di Sipio conjures up this red wine with refinement and sensitivity. Flaschenpost team tip: Combine this Montepulciano with pasta or lamb.
Tasting note
This Montepulciano Riserva impresses with its impenetrable ruby red color with slightly purple reflections. The nose reveals complex aromas of ripe blackberries, plums, currants, wild berry jam, bread crust, leather, pepper, bay leaf, exotic wood and tobacco. The palate captivates with its deep fruit aromas with lots of spice and a perfect balance between aromatic richness, strong and velvety tannins, minerality, well-integrated alcohol, refreshing acid structure and a first note of maturity. The finish is enormously long and harmonious. A stunner!
Culinary recommendation
Wonderful with hearty game dishes, red meat, roasts and pot roasts with dark sauce, lamb or just because.
Vinification
The grapes for this Montepulciano come from old vines and are harvested by hand very late in several harvests. Only the ripest grapes are selected for this wine and attention is paid to the smallest yields. In the winery, the grapes are lightly squeezed and fermented with a long mash fermentation. The wine is then aged for 60 months in barriques made of various woods. A special process was developed in which a kind of net hangs in each barrique, in which the grape skins remain in contact with the wine. This means that gentle extraction of the ingredients from the grape skins continues for 5 years. This process is unique and gives the wine a very special tannin structure and aroma depth. This is followed by bottling and further storage in the bottle. A maximum of 2000 bottles of the 5 Anni are produced annually.
