Dirk Niepoort has great enthusiasm for Alentejo's Portoalegre region. After several joint wine projects with friends, it is now time to explore Portoalegre in your own way. Dirk is impressed by the granite and slate soils and the altitudes of the mountains in the São Mamede Natural Park, which give the wines their freshness and elegance. The typical character comes from the vineyards, which lie at an altitude of between 600 and 700 meters, whose average age of the vines is about 70 years and was created in traditional mixed planting. A mineral scent of wet stone, blood oranges, ripe quinces and dried apricots as well as yellow immortelle flowers seduce the nose and invite you to take a first sip. The palate is enveloped by a composition of grapefruit, lime zest and salty minerality. An interplay of creamy and at the same time juicy, fresh texture creates an arc of suspense. In Portugal, you can enjoy it with Bacalhão. About the label: Anyone who knows Niepoort knows that he can often be found wearing a hat.
