Tasting note
The Cortage comes in a sparkling and dark ruby red. On the nose, intense aromas of blackberries, black cherries, sweet-spicy accents, moist forest soil and some leather inspire. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and juicy with lots of red fruit, velvety tannins, an invigorating acidity and a noticeable minerality. An extremely elegant and characterful Priorat wine with lots of spice and great drinking flow.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with hearty meat dishes, stews, lamb, barbecues, tapas, cheese
Vinification
The vines, which are on average 25 years old, grow in the south-east facing locations of “Les Sentius” and “El Bosc” on typical llicorella soils with sandy proportions. After manual harvesting, the grapes are fermented separately at cool temperatures and then aged for 6 months in French barriques (approx. 50% virgin wood content) before assemblage. The wine is bottled unfiltered. Only 1,040 bottles of the first vintage of 2021 were produced. In 2022, 2090 bottles were pressed.
