About the wine
L'Enfant Terrible de la Rhône! Or at least that was François Villard when he planted his first vines at the end of the 1980s as a career changer and thus really stirred up the wine scene in the northern Rhône. Rapidly celebrated as a shooting star back then, he is still one of the most recognized and established winemakers in the region today. His wines inspire and fascinate. They are always full of intensity and power, but are never too lush or bulky. Total enthusiasm guaranteed!
Tasting note
Baba au Rhum - lush, floral-spicy and ripe fruit, compote of yellow peach, flambéed pineapple, candied orange, orange blossom, butter cream taefeli, bourbon vanilla, nutmeg, a touch of green pepper and smoky green tea, incredibly complex and versatile, extremely oily, soft texture, lots of spice, aroma and pressure on the palate, but also surprising with salty, citrusy freshness, only to appease you again with this warm, ripe fruit, back and forth, up and down, day and night, ebb and flow, in the eternal rhythm of our world, in harmony, Everything will be fine with this kind of wine anyway. Intense, long, with lots of potential. Extraordinary.
Vinification
Selective reading by hand. Pressed directly and each plot fermented individually with the vineyard's own yeasts in barrels, aged over 11 months in 25% new oak barrels and 75% in used ones by stirring up the yeast (bâtonnage), followed by a further 7 months of aging in steel tanks.
