About the wine
This outstanding Sangiovese 2011 — Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG Le Macioche is a triumph to the last drop in the truest sense of the word! The winemaker from the Italian winery Le Macioche masters this red wine with sensitivity and intuition in the fertile and blooming landscape of Tuscany. Tasting note
Intense, bright ruby red with garnet reflections. The aroma is distinctive and penetrating with notes of dried flowers, nutmeg, cloves, spices and tobacco, with a characteristic finish of undergrowth. The tannins are supple and full-bodied. It harmonizes well with the sweeter tannins of the wood and promises long and successful aging. The finish is spicy, very pure and long-lasting.
Culinary recommendation
A nice end to a convivial evening. The icing on the cake, so to speak.
Vinification
The grapes are selected by hand immediately after harvesting in order to preserve the quality of the product in the best possible way. After being pressed and destemmed, the grapes are then fermented in wooden vats at a controlled temperature (25 - 26°C) using only natural yeasts. At the end of the alcoholic fermentation, the wine matures partly in 30 hl barrels and partly in French oak barriques for 36 months.
