About the wine
On Weingut Ernst Triebaumer, which has been based in Rust since 1691, wine is born out of the claim to develop agriculture as a supporting part of an economy suitable for grandchildren. Instead of ruthless monoculture, the deliberate, generous increase in biodiversity and the resulting boosted biomass production on the land is cultivated here. The 70-year-old Blaufränki vines of the Ried Upper Forest are the secret treasure of the Triebaumer family. The wine of this expressive, concentrated grape shows a light-footed balance between sour cherry fruit, spice and minerality. Between corals and algae deposits of a former tropical palm beach, the old vines work their way past fossilized scallops and oyster shells to water-storing marl. A true expression of the situation, which is already very accessible in its youth, without sacrificing its maturity potential.
