WTF!? Riesling 2016 - Weingut Meierer

About the wine

Weingut Meierer has been family-owned since 1767 and is now managed by Klaus and Matthias Meierer in the seventh generation. The latter gained valuable experience with Fritz Haag in Brauneberg. The idyllic village of Kesten is located directly on the Moselle, on the long river loop between Piesport and Brauneberg. Meierer relies on the greatest care and work intensity when caring for the vineyards in order to then treat the grapes as gently as possible in the cellar and let the natural yeasts work for them in controlled idleness. Particular consideration is given to the sustainability of management. Contrary to the trend, the focus has been on maintaining steep slopes for years. Every year, attempts are made to buy one or two vineyards on the steep slopes and, if necessary, to cultivate Braach plots again.

Tasting note
The Meierer Riesling WTF!? shows a hint of yeasty citrus stone fruit scent in the glass with tart herbal to herbal, very slightly metallic, yeasty and earthy notes. The mouth then presents a slim, firm, dry fruit, vegetal and yeasty tones. Lively acidity, has bite, distinct minerality, good sustainability. The finish shows a good to very good, tart, juicy finish with a fine touch.
Culinary recommendation
Try the Riesling WTF!? with light summer salads, fish dishes, vegetarian dishes or poultry variations.
Vinification
Grown on steep slopes with a gradient of up to 80% with a particularly thick slate layer. Long ripening period, late harvesting, the fully ripe and botrytis-free grapes are only processed after the strictest selection.
