Rioja Tempranillo Blanco DOCa Bodegas Martinez Lacuesta España 2022 - Bodegas Martinez Lacuesta

About the wine

The story of the still very young Tempranillo Blanco grape variety began directly in the Martinez Lacuesta vines. There, the white grapes were discovered on a vine that had always borne red fruit until then. It is known that the vine is a plant that is prone to mutations. This is how tests were started and the suitability of the white grapes was tested. As early as 2007, the grape received official recognition from DOCa Rioja. Today, there are almost 300 hectares of Tempranillo Blanco that are cultivated. The grapes are rather early ripe, with good sugar content and lively acidity. The wines are pale yellow in color, reminiscent of citrus, pome fruit, apple, pear, fresh herbs, with foral notes. On the palate, they appear juicy and lively with medium alcohol.

Tasting note
Light, yellow-green color, fine and fresh in scent, extremely elegant, fine apple and fresh pear, lemon peel and some nectarine. On the palate, it is specific but not obtrusive, has something delicate, creamy with a fine freshness in the finale. Beautifully balanced, a perfect representative of the white Tempranillo grape.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with aperitifs, starters, fish & seafood, risotto, poultry, Asian cuisine, mild cheeses.
Vinification
The grapes come from selected vineyards in Lacuesta, which are located directly around the city of Haro. After manual harvesting in small boxes, the grapes are sorted. Only perfect molds are further processed and destemmed. Then extract the berries chilled with the juice for 10 hours before pressing and fermenting. The fermentation takes place in steel tanks. Until bottling, the wine ages on fine yeast, which is stirred regularly to give the wine additional aroma and complexity.
