About the wine
As a winery with a long history, the von Othegraven winery, now owned by Günther Jauch, is one of the first white wine addresses in Germany. Only late, from the end of October until well into November, have the fully ripe grapes been harvested by von Othegraven for generations, after which the wine is allowed to ferment with leisure and develop its characterful Riesling personality. The characteristics of each location are in the foreground.
James Suckling: 97
Tasting note
Medium lemon yellow, delicate scent of peach, citrus and apple. On the palate, juicy yellow fruit, salty minerality, herbs and fresh acidity with lots of pull and play on the finish.
Culinary recommendation
Flaschenpost team tip: Riesling Bockstein Large plant goes perfectly with mushrooms, Asian food and duck.
Vinification
The selected grapes are gently pressed after manual harvesting. 90% of the must is then spontaneously slowly fermented in stainless steel containers and 10% in large wooden barrels. After filtration, the wine is bottled.
