About the wine
Picturesque and blooming landscapes of Piedmont give us these grapes, from which the winemaker from the Italian winery Prunotto conjures up this red wine with refinement and sensitivity. Give yourself and your guests a treat for the senses with the delicious Pian Romualdo Barbera d'Alba DOC from 2015!
Tasting note
Intense purple with ruby reflections. Unadulterated and precise on the nose. Blackberries, cassis, elegant wood and sour cherries. Very juicy on the palate, with a strong, stimulating acidity. Shows fine tannins and good potential. Some spice, red berries, undergrowth and roasted aromas. The aftertaste is long and harmonious.
Culinary recommendation
Great with charcuterie, brasato and cheese.
Vinification
The Barbera grapes from the very calcareous “Pian Romualdo” vineyard in Monforte d'Alba are picked by hand, pressed and the must is fermented in steel tanks and in large wooden vats. The wine is aged for twelve months in 50-hl oak barrels or in two-year barriques. To refine, the wine is aged in the bottle for a further four months.
