About the wine
Do you already know the provocative Merlot Oltremare IGT Sardinien with the 2014 vintage? If not, it's time! The winemaker from the Italian winery Unmaredivino masters this red wine with sensitivity and intuition in the fertile and sunny landscape of Sardinia. Flaschenpost team tip: Combine this merlot with duck or slightly spicy red meat.
Tasting note
This dark ruby red wine delights with strong aromas of blackberry jam, red berries, some tobacco, sweet spicy notes and a hint of menthol. The palate is powerful with a full body, an aroma potpourri of dark berries, dried figs, notes of precious wood and herbs, velvety tannins and a long-lasting and spicy finish. A fiery red wine for the most beautiful hours of the year.
Culinary recommendation
Goes wonderfully with grilled red meat, game, gitzi, spicy foods, Italian specialities and aged semi-hard and hard cheeses.
Vinification
The grapes grow on barren granite soils and are picked by hand and carefully sorted again. Fermentation takes place at controlled temperatures in stainless steel tanks. The ageing takes place for 18 months in 2-year-old French barriques. After the separate ageing, the various varietal wines are blended and aged for a further 6 months in the bottle.
