About the wine
Chiara and Stefano Casali moved from Milan to Roccastrada in Maremma at the end of the 90s. After thorough and extensive renovation of the estate and the replanting of the vineyards, their first wine was released in 2007. We were immediately impressed - not only by the low prices for this zone - especially by the quality and the expected potential.
Tasting note
Deep ruby red, the bouquet features berries and black cherries, with hints of tobacco and vanilla beans, full fruit on the palate, some dark chocolate, with polished tannins and balanced acid structure. Long-lasting finale.
Culinary recommendation
Perfect for festive cuisine: brasato, fried beef, game, and mature hard cheese.
Vinification
Temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Ageing in barriques for 14 months and aging in bottles for a further 9 months.
