Munjebel Rosso CR IGP Campo Re 2020 - Frank Cornelissen

About the wine

Frank Cornelissen has only dedicated itself to wine since the beginning of 2000, and has ventured far ahead from the start, no compromises, but clear convictions and ideas. When Frank says nature, he also means nature. The ancient vines are virtually left to their own devices, accompanied, and only in rare, very difficult years are biodynamic methods used at all, what goes in the bottle here is not just pure and untamed nature, it is a great experience, a venture and a journey, incomparably passionate, impetuous and yet of inner purity. Very big - and if it's still surprising that you can have bottles re-corked after barely more than 10 years, not because the corks are no good, but because the wines will still inspire decades to come!

Tasting note
Warm-blooded animals - warm blood flow, what an almost voluptuous, sweet and yet so noble, red to brown fruit, and that shiny, dark mineral shimmer, you look deep into the horse's eyes. On the palate, the nobility of this warm body, where peace and agility are combined, the glowing elegance of a nature that is untamed on the inside: the tannins so gently rough, the minerality so fine and deep dark in this so warm, ripe, fleshy and fine fruit. Great erotic pleasure that is as animalistic as it is abstract.
Culinary recommendation
Von den Flaschenpöstlern empfohlen: Munjebel Rosso CR IGP Campo Re harmoniert hervorragend mit Rindsgulasch und sizilianischen Pastagerichten.
Vinification
Selective reading and sorting by hand. Start with pied de cuve, 50 days maceration of the destemmed, slightly crushed berries, maturing for 18 months each in steel tank and bottle, unembellished, only light filtration.
