About the wine
The winemaker from the Italian winery Tasca d'Almerita has absolutely mastered his craft. Elegance and finesse are the characteristics of this white wine, which originates in the blooming and fertile landscape of Sicily. The discreet Grillo 2022 — Mozia Tasca Fondazione Whitaker is the missing puzzle piece in your wine rack. Culinary tip from Flaschenpöstler: This Grillo can be served very well with rice dishes or an aperitif.
Tasting note
Light yellow with golden reflections. Invigorating on the nose. Notes of ripe citrus fruit, some white flowers, spicy herbal nuances. On the palate, with a nice presence and richness. Expressive and finely balanced. Good finish with nice, aromatic persistence.
Culinary recommendation
Perfect with aperitif, fish, seafood or vegetable dishes.
Vinification
The vineyard is based on the traditional tree education system, the only type of farming possible in a windy area such as the Stagnone Lagoon in Marsala. The winery harvests the Grillo grapes as early as the second half of August to preserve their freshness and minerality. The must is fermented in steel tanks at 16°C to 18°C. This is followed by aging on fine yeast for five months, again in steel tanks, before the young wine is bottled.
