The grapes come from almost 50-year-old Cabernet Franc vines, grown on soils that resemble a coal mine, hence the name. Aged for 24 months in barriques. Spicy fruity nose with aromas of dark berries, dried cherries and a bit of cassis, plus notes of undergrowth, pepper, smoked bacon and black truffle. On the palate, on the other hand, a nice interplay of juicy, fresh fruit, spicy minerals and elegant tannin structure.
