About the wine
Poliziano is one of Italy's most renowned wine producers and the undisputed top producer in Montepulciano. Federico Carletti took over the estate in Montepulciano from his father in 1982. In the eighties, together with his oenologist Carlo Ferrini, he optimised vinification, made enormous investments and made a name for himself in the first guard of Italy. Back then, there were around 22 hectares planted with vines, today there are 110. Carletti tirelessly refines the quality of its wines and does so with considerable success. Le Stanze and Vino Nobile Asinone have long since achieved cult status and the Merlot in Violas is Carletti's youngest child, of whom only around 6500 bottles are bottled annually. The name Poliziano goes back to the Renaissance poet Angelo Ambrogini (1454-1494), who was born in Montepulciano and worked as a teacher and poet in Florence under the name “Il Poliziano”.
