Magill Estate Shiraz 2018 - Penfolds

About the wine

With the first-class Magill Estate Shiraz, which was produced in 2015, you will certainly have a lot of fun. Sunny and picturesque landscapes in South Australia give us these grapes, from which the winemaker from the Australian winery Penfolds conjures up this red wine with refinement and experience.

Tasting note
First vinified in 1983, the Magill Estate Shiraz shows an elegant, medium-weight style with velvety texture and fine tannins, aged in both French and American oak. It is a smooth, contemporary wine, yet produced in the traditional way in a 170-year-old winery: hand-picked, vinified in open fermentation vats and pressed into barrels using a basket press to complete the fermentation. Dense dark purple in the glass. Completely different... all in all a very appealing and different Shiraz! Tomatoes, blood orange and cola are discovered. Aromas of dried flowers (violet, daffodil) continue to arouse curiosity. The oak is presented in the form of rosewood, sandalwood and cedarwood. Tanned leather and cloves are added. Juicy, fresh, elegant on the palate. A mix of aromas made from various citrus fruits (blood orange, kumquat, mandarin) as well as red currants and red licorice interspersed with refreshing acidity (cranberries) and supple tannins.
Culinary recommendation
Unsere Empfehlung: Der Rotwein schmeckt am besten bei leicht gekühlten 18°C.
Vinification
The grapes, which come from the original Magill vineyard on the outskirts of Adelaide's eastern suburbs (only 8 kilometers from the city center), are harvested, fermented and aged directly in the original Penfolds Magill winery, founded in 1844.
