Tasting note
Bright, deep, youthful red. On the nose, dark pepper-like spices and blueberry fruits with a nice fynbos aroma. Large, complex, fruity palate, restrained with nice acidity and fine tannins. Long-lasting aftertaste.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with Moroccan lamb tagine or short-fried venison with wild mushroom strudel.
Vinification
Handpicked and destemmed, filled with 10% whole bunches of grapes in open fermentation tanks. Fermentation took place spontaneously at a maximum of 30°C for 14 days with regular push downs. The wine was then handed over for malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels, 30% of which were new. The aging took a total of 20 months and the Syrah was then bottled unfiltered by hand.
