Côtes du Rhône Rouge AOC 2021 - Clos St. Antonin

About the wine

It was only in 2014 that the Sabon family bought the 15-hectare small Clos Saint Antonin winery in Jonquières in the southern Rhône from the glorious Domaine de la Janasse, and not only received something, but also gave it: Janasse gave two 2 ha of wonderful Chateauneuf-du-Pape sites to Saint Antonin. And if you also consider that the wines from Clos Saint Antonin are still pressed on Janasse for the time being, and how they work there with minimal intervention and primarily organically, then you can only come to the conclusion that it says Saint Antonin on it, but actually Janasse drinks, and that's what it tastes like: wines of beguiling dense, smooth, flowing elegance and freshness. Even the first year of 2015 was a bang!

Tasting note
Wild horse - with this special mix of elegance, grace, but also a wild, sometimes impetuous, sometimes shy way. Dark, shiny, clear juicy, ripe but not too sweet fruit, then wild, impetuous yet fragile features, animalistic and brown tones, looks lively and wild, fresh in a fascinating way. On the palate, deep dark fruit, including warm, sweet spices, and that dark, impetuous yet delicate power, wild, peppery, tart and a slightly bitter tone. Wonderful Côtes du Rhône.
Culinary recommendation
Von den Flaschenpöstlern empfohlen: Côtes du Rhône Rouge AOC harmoniert perfekt mit Barbecue, geröstetem Gemüse und Wild.
Vinification
Selective reading and sorting by hand. Fermentation with the vineyard's own yeasts, aging and long maturation partly in large wooden barrels, partly in concrete tanks, unfiltered.
