About the wine
With sensitivity and intuition, the winemaker from the Swiss winery Laurent de Coulon masters this red wine in the fertile countryside of Neuchâtel. If we can offer something special for Christmas 2021, it's this strong Pinot Noir 2016 — Château Souaillon Le Bourguignon Grand Cru. The Flaschenpöstler promise a culinary experience when you serve this Pinot Noir with duck or cheese.
Tasting note
The red clay-limestone soil at Château Souaillon is very similar to that of the Grand Cru site Le Corton. Château Souaillon is located at the same latitude, 47°2'N, as Aloxe-Corton, so our vines receive the same sum of light. This variety-specific requirement is a very decisive factor for the optimal development of the vines. The planted Pinot Noir clones 777 and 828 from the Côte d'Or are indisputably the best in their homeland. The dense planting of 10,000 vines per hectare and the very close cultivation was carried out by the best wineries in Burgundy. The extremely gentle vinification takes place in the same way as the great models from the Côte d'Or. Bright ruby red, seductive bouquet of ripe wild strawberries and raspberries. The aftertaste is long-lasting, accompanied by light, elegant tannins. Intense fruit aromas on the palate. Prestige wine is aged in Pièces (228L wooden barrels from Burgundy), extreme finesse and a harmonious body.
