About the wine
Pioneer Anton Kollwentz is regarded as one of the great figures of the new Austrian wine and a significant co-founder of the “wine miracle.” Son Andreas is now shining in his footsteps. And how! The modern winery in Großhöflein has sensational vineyards. The vineyards are as “tailor-made” as if they had been geared up for the Vienna Opera Ball. And Andreas knows why: he is only interested in perfect, fully ripe crops for his world-class wines. The showhorse and “Austria's Latour” is the Steinzeiler: a Blaufränkisch with a little Zweigelt and Cabernet Sauvignon. A precise, magnificent classic with unbelievable storage potential.

Tasting note
Blaufränkisch Leithakalk from Kollwentz has a distinctly strong purple color. On the nose, the wine has aromas of spicy berry fruit. On the palate, it is strong with ripe tannins. It is very rich, with a very long aftertaste.
Culinary recommendation
Flaschenpöstler-Tipp: Blaufränkisch Leithakalk passt perfekt zu Pasta mit Steinpilzen, Kalbsfilet und Lamm. Unsere Empfehlung: Geniessen Sie diesen Rotwein bei leicht gekühlten 16°-18°C. Der Wein sollte in diesem Zeitraum genossen werden: Jetzt bis 2023.
Vinification
Blaufränkisch Leithakalk from Kollwentz is made from fully ripe, healthy grapes that are selectively picked by hand. Fermentation takes place on the mash and maceration takes 3 to 4 weeks. The wine is then aged in small French oak barrels for 18 to 21 months.
