Tasting note
Ruby with brightening edge. Intensely scented nose: typical nebbiolo notes of cherries, dried plums, nuts and raisins, mixed with an interesting spicy undergrowth note. Overall, very nice, rich variety. Classically dry on the palate, with delicate, already ripe tannins. A more feminine Barbaresco with lots of warmth, noble power and subtle tobacco aromas in the finale.
Culinary recommendation
Decant one to two hours before serving.
Vinification
The Nebbiolo grapes come from the “Roncaglia” estate, whose vines are right next to the GAJA plots. After harvesting, the grapes are gently pressed and mashed and fermented for twelve to 15 days. The aging takes place for twelve to 14 months in large (partly new) oak barrels.
